A mini-atelier will be running in the Main Building, so please feel free to use it.
About the Atelier
The atelier is a place for independent creative activity.
There are two rooms: Atelier 1 can be used for printmaking, and Atelier 2 can be used for dyeing and weaving, photography, woodworking, etc.
Anyone can work on a project at their own pace using the equipment and tools provided in the studio.

How to use
Before use
Please see the Event Introduction for information about the equipment and tools available in the atelier.
If you would like to learn the production steps, please apply for an Atelier class.
- Children of elementary school age and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Please bring any materials necessary for production or tools that are not provided in the studio.
However, we will not allow tools that are loud or produce an unpleasant odor and may disturb other users. - Some materials are available for sale at the Museum Friends Association (South Building Fureai Art Center).
- We do not accept storage for materials, tools, or items in progress, so you will need to take them home each time you work on them.
Make a reservation before your visit
Please make a reservation in advance at the South Building Fureai Art Center if you wish to use the facility.
- Reservations are accepted from the 1st of the month prior to the date of use.
- Reservations are limited to one per event.

On-site registration
Please register at the South Building Fureai Art Center, receive your name tag, and then create your work in the studio.
- Some tools are available for loan at the South Building Fureai Art Center. Please fill out the tool loan book and bring them to the studio.
Use
- The studio is a shared space. Please be considerate of others when using the tools and space.
- Materials donated to the museum are provided in the studio. You are free to use them, but please note that they may not be available at all times.
- Please keep eating and drinking to a minimum, and do not disturb other users.
- If there is a malfunction with the equipment or tools, please notify a member of staff immediately.
- Please refrain from selling your creations in the museum.
When leaving
Finally, please return your name tag to the South Building Fureai Art Center and any equipment you borrowed from the office.
- Please put away any equipment and tools you have used during your usage time and clean up the area you used.
- Please take any trash you create with you when you leave the facility.
Regarding storage of creations
As a general rule, we will not accept materials, tools, etc. (including items in the process of being made) that you bring with you. However, we may be able to store them in the studio in the following cases:
- If you can make a reservation for the same use the following day, you may leave them in the studio. Place them together in a place that will not disturb other users, clearly state your name and the date of use, and notify the South Building Fureai Art Center. (The museum assumes no responsibility when it comes to keeping them.)
- For items that require time to dry, such as prints and photographs, place them together in a place that will not disturb other users, clearly state your name and the date of use, and notify the South Building Fureai Art Center. They can be kept for up to two weeks.
- Spun thread can be left on the bobbin at the South Building Fureai Art Center. The period is up to two weeks.
*Please note that if items are left unattended without permission or for longer than the specified period (maximum of 2 weeks), we may consider them unnecessary and dispose of them.
Atelier Class
Aimed at those using the atelier for the first time or those looking to expand the scope of their creative work, this course will explain the creative process in the atelier and how to use the equipment.

Flow of events
Advance consultation regarding date and content
Please let us know your desired content by phone or in person at least two weeks before the event. We will coordinate with the person in charge to decide the date and content of the event.
- We accept applications on a first-come, first-served basis.
- If there is no equipment or space available, we may decline your request.
Announcement of the date and contents of the event
The decided details of the event will be announced on the website and in the building, and if there are insufficient participants, we will recruit more participants.
On the day of the event
After registering at the South Building Fureai Art Center, the class will take place in the atelier.
*The class will be limited to a small number of participants, and we will be able to answer any detailed questions you may have so that you can use the general atelier after the class is over. Therefore, please take notes and ask any questions you may have.*If you use items for sale from the Museum Friends Association, please pay a separate materials fee.
