At the Ehime Prefectural Museum of Art, we try to approach art works not only through sight, but also through touch, hearing, and dialogue. We hope to bring into contact with the realm of the senses that we were not aware of, and to hold exhibitions and programs that will make each viewer reconsider what it means to "see," enriching the way we enjoy art and our daily lives. In this exhibition, we hope to encourage viewers to face the visual world that we usually do not pay attention to, and to think about "seeing" using all of our senses. We will introduce works that shake up our everyday senses, including works by Takayuki Mitsushima, who expresses the world captured by senses other than sight with tactile shapes and memorable colors, and Ryota Yagi, who uses familiar materials to question perceptions such as sight and hearing, and works from the museum's collection. Through the works, we hope that viewers will be able to use senses other than sight to imagine things that cannot be seen, discover unexpected ways of seeing due to the characteristics of sight, and encounter sensations that they have never experienced before.
