Fujio Ishimoto, a native of Tobe-cho, Ehime Prefecture, has been creating new expressions with enthusiasm, inspired by the rich nature of Finland's forests, wetlands, and lakes, as well as the Shojiyama, rice fields, and lotus ponds that he grew up in Tobe-cho, Ehime Prefecture. This exhibition will introduce Ishimoto's work as a designer for Marimekko, a leading Finnish design house, and as a ceramicist in the art department of Arabia, a long-established ceramic manufacturer that also represents Finland, at two venues: the Ehime Prefectural Museum of Art and the Tobe-cho Cultural Center.

At the Ehime Prefectural Museum of Art, visitors will be able to see new landscapes woven by the encounter between his new ceramics and the museum's collection, and enjoy a dynamic installation that combines the fabrics that were loved around the world and the precious original drawings that served as the basis for the designs, which were created during his time as a Marimekko designer. At the Tobe-cho Cultural Center, visitors will be able to see his new ceramics based on the natural scenery of his hometown, as well as his work as a Marimekko designer, and the recently reprinted "onni (translation: happiness)" will also be exhibited. Please come and see the origins and new world of Ishimoto Fujio's work, who has been active as a fabric designer and ceramic artist.
